sitting and sipping
i’m sitting in the starbucks on linden street in wellesley, sipping tea from india tapping away at my laptop assembled in china, most recently re-spiffy-fied in tennessee. where are you? and where did all of your amenities come from? and what brings you and them together right where you are sitting now?
what brings all of my non-local stuff together at this current locality is my second day of training in some bodywork modalities that i will be using in my new part time job at a moderately local day spa, for which job i interviewed in lexington, did my orientation in boston, am currently training in wellesley, and will be assigned home base in boston, and then probably pick up shifts in lexington and wellesley.
now do i thank henry ford or curse him?
give me a lever long enough
one thing for sure, as i seek to balance the local and the non-local: i will bless everything that brings me where i am today. today is the point from which i wield the lever that will create tomorrow. of course i don’t have to be an active influencer in my life. i can define balance as that resting state that i achieve when i land fall on my ass.
or i can take the advice of mike dooley and get back up again and again, acknowledging that to start, to truly start, is to carry on. to answer that voice that says to quit.
i must go on.
i can’t go on.
i’ll go on.
