impossible according to newtonian physics, right. well, good thing we aren’t living in the 17th century, eh? because today i am going to teach you a simple technique for building coherence between both hemispheres of your brain, between your brain and your heart, and between yourself and the planet you live on.
heart of darkness
one request: please use this practice for the benefit of someone or some many in addition yourself. right now there is a strong need for some coherent loving energy in the democratic republic of the congo. simply put the congo is a bloody mess right now, and any helping prayers we can offer will be felt and appreciated. ’nuff said.
global coherence initiative
developed by the folks at heartmath, and adapted by me, this technique is pretty simple:
- take a comfortable seat, relax, and enjoy your breath.
- take about two minutes to radiate appreciation toward a person, place, or thing that you have a simple loving relationship with.
- focus on how this appreciation feels in the area of your heart.
- evoke genuine feelings of care and compassion for planet earth.
- breathe these feelings of care and compassion in and out of your heart.
- stick with this breath, perhaps imagining waves coming to and from a shore, or perhaps pulsations of light shining out from the sun. anything that gives you a strong feeling of compassion is the right path to follow.
- radiate these feelings of care and compassion outward to the planet as a whole, or to a person, place or situation of your choice.
- see yourself, along with many others known and unknown to you, participating in this healing, this bringing of peace.
five minutes a day is an easy way to increase feelings of peace and connection. give it a whirl and see how you can transcend newton, heal yourself, and heal this brutal beat-up land, all at the same time.
