full-moon

The Moon is a Magnet

Full Willow Moon tonight, the moon of habits and patterns, and if the past two weeks are any indication, this one may have pulled me over some deep chasms…We’ll see what the next two weeks bring!

Back up. It’s Friday, and that means an Update, a tradition I inherited from @havi, which has now spread all over this little corner of Blogolandia. And the update today is Power Packed, perhaps Perspicacious, and definitely not Procrastinated! Some things just can’t wait! The Patient Blogger? No way! May as well search for the Long Winded Twitterer. And I digress.

So on to today’s line-up, and the awesome truth behind today’s post. And first things first:

Spring Cleaning, Procrastination, and Auto Repairs

Heading into Mothers Day weekend, that’s been the shape of things for the past week. And the thing about everything this week is that the long shadow of Pattern and Habit has loomed over everything. And the super secret awesome truth behind todays post is that I already wrote it. And then I left it at home. So now I’m writing it again.

That’s right. I’m a Pen and Paper blogger. And today I’m tapping away in full recognition that this is not going to look anything at all like that 6 pages I blasted out this morning, which breaks my heart; and sometimes life is just like that. Shit happens, and thank Universe for Modern Plumbing!

Necessary Maintenance

That’s what I thought when I drove the boy to pre-school on Wednesday. This car needs some maintenance. Brakes grinding like nobody’s business. And what timing! Just got a tax return, so I can afford it. Just started my own little Spring Cleaning, the Necessary Maintenance of my digestive system. So why not?

Of course there is a slight difference between the brakes and front end of my car and my own digestive system, not the least of which is that changing my eating habits for a week is certainly a lot cheaper than hiring an auto mechanic. And you gotta do what you gotta do.

And confession time. I could have done some of this work several months back. And I could have gotten off a little easier if I had done that. And I still have to replace my tires, two of which have worn out way ahead of schedule because I didn’t have them balanced, and I needed an alignment, which may have also contributed to the front end work that I had to get done.

Moral of story?

Sometimes procrastination is not so powerful. Sometimes it costs you money. And yet. Who am I to say that this particular life lesson isn’t cheap at twice the price? That the confluence of this week’s events:

  • Spring Cleaning to keep my system in shape and prevent future replacement or modification of my own parts,
  • Soft launch of the Spring Cleaning teleclass designed to help you keep your system in shape and prevent the need for replacement or modification of your own parts,
  • Two months of procrastination playing out with the publication of a guest post on The Power of Procrastination over at Tim Brownson’s Discomfort Zone, and
  • 6 months of procrastination culminating in a deca-Benjamin visit to my favorite mechanic

Who am I to say that this alignment isn’t more powerful, more valuable, than the cost of a little extra work at the auto shop? And should I factor in the taxes that were filed on the 15th, thereby creating the necessary psychic space to write that guest post just in time for the launch of my teleclass, and the necessary funds to take care of that necessary (auto) maintenance?

And all of these events coming to a head as the moon pulled with greater and greater fullness, all set to pop like ripe champagne around midnight tonight, EST.

Lessons Learned

  1. Never underestimate The Power of Procrastination. Sometimes its just what’s needed to bring a series of events together at just the right time.
  2. If you are ready to do something about your health that is preventative, empowering, long lasting, and fun, consider my Spring Cleaning, which you can read about here and here and here.
  3. Never beat yourself up about timing. Your internal clock is much more accurate than you will ever be, and beating yourself up never accomplishes anything good. And for heavens self don’t turn around and beat yourself up about beating yourself up!
  4. Remember your mother. She is more important than a deadline. She’s a lifeline.

Okay then…enjoy the weekend, enjoy the fullness of la Luna, and for the love of monkeys, postpone the Important to attend to the Vital!

Pax,

Chas
